Gayatri Mantra

The Gayatri Mantra is a verse of the Rigveda (3.62.10). In common chanting it is prefixed with Om and the three vyahritis: Bhur, Bhuvah, Svah.

Gayatri Mantra

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः ।तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि ।धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

Meaning: Om: the sacred syllable. Bhur, Bhuvah, Svah: earth, the space between, and heaven. We meditate on the supreme radiance of the divine Savitr, the sun as source of light, may it guide our minds in the right direction.
